♻️ Recycling in Spain

Understand the Spanish way of recycling - and start right away! Reduce - Reuse - Recycle!

Check the bins information for your coliving below ⬇️

Recycling is one of those things that change everywhere you go... even if we always know the difference between organic, plastic, paper, and glass, minor differences always apply, depending on where you are in the world!

For this, we have decided to provide you with a short explanation of how to separate your trash to recycle in Madrid and Valencia.

We make 6 separations:

  • Organic waste: brown bin
  • Non-organic waste: orange bin
  • Plastic packaging & metal packaging: yellow bin
  • Paper & cardboard: blue bin
  • Glass: green bin
  • Special waste & dangerous waste: punto limpio

Here you have the distribution of how we recycle at Urban Campus, and where should you take the different trash:

For Madrid: Please check madrid.es/puntoslimpios to find the nearest Punto Limpio.
For Valencia: Please check here to find out the calendar of Punto Limpio mobile (ecoparque).

Bins in Mellado Coliving

In the garbage room at the entrance of the coliving, there are currently 2 non-organic bins (orange), 1 organic bin (brown), and 1 packaging bin (yellow).

Bins are taken out in the street in the evening:

  • If the bins are in the garbage room (during the day), you can throw your trash there. Don’t leave any garbage bags on the floor in this area, even if the bins are full (they won’t be taken out!)
  • If the bins are not in the garbage room (from 18.00 to 07.00), you can find them right outside the front door of the building. Don’t leave any garbage bags on the floor in the garbage room or the corridor.
Make sure not to throw any glass or paper/cardboard in the coliving bins: always use the large bins street on the street.
